Discover My Professional Journey

Creative Portfolio by David Cunat

I’m a digital marketer who works directly with small business owners to turn strategy into clear results — email campaigns, brand concepts, and the analytics to prove they worked. I’ve built strategic marketing plans, run lifecycle email frameworks, and led research projects with real clients and nonprofits, backed by Google Analytics (GA4) and HubSpot certifications. Design is part of how I execute — not the whole story. Scroll down to see the work

Case Study 1: Sweet Boba House- Eau Claire, WI

The Problem

Sweet Boba House, a local boba tea retailer in Eau Claire, WI, needed a complete strategic marketing plan to grow brand awareness, retain customers year-round, and build a stronger competitive position — without an existing digital marketing strategy in place.

My Approach

As part of a 5-person consulting team for a client capstone project, I helped build a full strategic marketing plan covering product, pricing, distribution, and promotion strategy. I focused specifically on the promotion and customer retention pieces, and independently designed and wrote a seasonal promotional email campaign — from concept through final layout.

What I Built

A phased implementation roadmap with concrete quarterly targets: 30% growth in social following, 20% lift in TikTok engagement, and 15% growth in repeat purchases through a new digital loyalty program A complete promotional email for a limited-time seasonal product launch, including copy, layout, and visual hierarchy Recommendations for community partnerships, delivery platform integration, and a customer loyalty app

The Outcome

The plan was presented directly to ownership. The owner reported a noticeable uptick in sales following implementation of the recommended strategy.

Case Study 2: United Way of Greater Chippewa Valley- Nonprofit

The Problem

United Way of Greater Chippewa Valley wanted to understand how to raise volunteer motivation among college students for its affiliated nonprofit initiatives — but didn’t have current data on what actually drives student volunteering.

My Approach

I co-led a 4-person research team that designed and distributed a survey to University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire students, combining open-ended questions with scaled rating questions to capture both why students volunteer and which causes they care most about.

What I Built

A 63-response survey analyzing student volunteer motivations, with responses coded and categorized into motivation types

A breakdown showing community connection (22%) and emotional fulfillment (17%) as the top two motivators — meaning students are driven more by belonging and feeling good than by external incentives

A second analysis identifying youth support (5.7/7) and animal rights/protection (5.5/7) as the causes students were most likely to volunteer for

A set of actionable recommendations, including campus partnerships with the YMCA and The Community Table to convert interest into actual volunteer engagement

The Outcome

Findings and recommendations were presented directly to United Way program stakeholders to inform their student outreach strategy.

Churchills Quality Cigars- Victoria, MN

The Problem

Churchill’s Quality Cigars, a specialty tobacco retailer in Victoria, MN, had a website that functioned as a digital brochure rather than a marketing tool — no contact information, no e-commerce, no SEO strategy, and no way to turn visitors into customers or track performance.

My Approach

I conducted a full digital marketing consultation, using GA4 competitive data and customer segmentation to identify growth benchmarks, and analyzing POS data to design a customer retention strategy. I worked directly with ownership throughout to keep recommendations grounded in what the business could realistically execute.

What I Built

A complete website audit with a phased execution roadmap covering contact information, e-commerce (with required age-verification compliance for tobacco sales), SEO, and mobile optimization A full customer lifecycle framework in MailChimp, including 3-part welcome and win-back email flows designed to increase customer lifetime value and repeat purchases A tiered loyalty program projected to lift CLV 8–12%, with the activation plan built out in HubSpot CRM UX/UI recommendations for site navigation, including A/B test proposals

Outcome

The company President/Owner personally wrote to commend the thoroughness and strategic depth of the deliverable — a copy of that note is available on request.
